Reconnection and Recognition: Affiliated GAs Gather in Arizona

General Agents (GAs), the leaders of our Affiliated Channel agencies, kicked off 2022 recently in Dove Mountain, Arizona.

It had been too long since these key representatives of our company were in each others’ company, and the laughter could probably be heard all over the mountain.

The spirit was heightened by Rebecca Dunne and Frank Lucia, who co-hosted the awards ceremony complete with lively banter and “fun facts”, like the origin of the name Dove Mountain (it’s in the Tortolita Range…which translates to little turtle dove. Now you know.)

Another fact: the Affiliated Channel had an incredible 2021 and are reconnected and revved up for 2022.

Do Good Award Being Put to Good Use

The true measure of success is the impact it makes. Here’s an example of that impact. Fred & Camille Martins (Five Rings agents) used the monies their nonprofit received for the Agent Do Good award to provide Thanksgiving meals for 500 people!

Each family had a designated time to come pick up their turkey and box of food to use for Thanksgiving.

They did this at a local church in Margate, Florida. Talk about Good being done! Thank you Fred and Camille for making a difference.

Crankin’ for Cause

Last week, Mehran, Matt Frazee and Xan Rousselle mounted the fitness center’s Peloton exercise bikes to help the PHP (People Helping People) agency kick off a charity challenge.

Two PHP offices will compete to log the most hours on the Peloton bikes they won as part of a sales contest. The winning office will receive $2,021 from us to donate to a childhood hunger-fighting charity.

Mehran, Matt and Xan, along with some trash-talking among the PHP offices, motivated the riders live over Zoom to jump-start the competition with a spirited and sweaty 20-minute ride.

Jerry Stratton: “He was always looking forward.”

Jerry Stratton, a pioneering independent distribution partner of National Life, passed away on October 8 at age 83.

As an independent Managing General Agent (MGA) he was a key principal in execution of our independent distribution strategy. Jerry brought extensive experience, a strategic mind and love for the industry and National Life. He was an icon in our industry and lived his passion every single day.
