“It’s like going to Disney World”

One of those early July days in Vermont (the sunny kind, not the downpour kind), three faces peered in through the glass doors of the main lobby, knocking and waving. Curiously, security officer Rick Pope peered back at the unfamiliar, smiling faces and opened the door to see how he could help them.

The faces belonged to independent agent Rosalin Santos-Perea, with her husband and her mother. Rosalin had come from Port Richey, Florida (about two hours from Orlando) to visit the National Life home office, because, she said, “it’s like visiting Disney World.”

Rick got them in touch with Melody Shaw and Al Foice, who set them up with a campus tour, time with Matt Frazee and Luis Puglisi, and of course, some NL swag.

This kind of pilgrimage might sound funny to those of us who have been to the building hundreds of times, but the campus — and guest house — have been a draw for agents since they were built. That sense of place and the care we show for our partners have been major differentiators for National Life in the field. And it’s not just good for business. It’s who we are.
