Located outside the Montpelier Senior Activity Center on Barre Street, the Do Good Cupboard is stocked with dry goods and non-perishable items that are free to those in need. National Life volunteers regularly check on the cupboard, making sure supplies aren’t running low and restocking when needed.

You probably have heard about ChatGPT in the last few weeks. ChatGPT is a new chatbot with a remarkable ability to mimic human dialogue and decision making. Although the core function of a chatbot is to mimic a human conversationalist, ChatGPT is versatile. For example, you can ask it to a write an essay, explain a subject, run a calculation, help code in Python, or simply follow a conversation. The technology then pulls knowledge from its dataset and produces a response that looks surprisingly accurate — at least sometimes.

2023, our 175th year, officially kicked off with our company meeting yesterday. Mehran reminded us that as successful a year as 2022 was, and it was incredibly successful thanks to all of you, we will never stop raising that bar higher and higher. We should never apologize for being successful and we can’t accept status quo. You don’t remain in business for 175 years and become #1 in so many categories by settling. From Darlene Flagg, Vice President, Marketing & Brand:
Greetings National Life Colleagues:
It has been another remarkable year for BUILD (Blacks Uplifted in Leadership Development), a National Life Community. In 2022, we focused on excellence in engagements and experiences by connecting, educating, and revolutionizing Blacks partnering to do business with National Life. For the first time in this company’s 175-year history, we hosted fifty top Black agents in Vermont at BUILD’s inaugural Summit. BUILD’s membership grew to over 2,400, and we raised almost $20,000 that was donated to local charities. And finally, our presence at the Conference of African American Financial Professionals (CAAFP) led to professorships with the American College for BUILD members. 2022 was the year of laying the foundation. Now it is time to start BUILDing the framework so that we are ready to jet set in 2023.
