Creation of NLGroup Memorial Garden Sows Seeds of Healing

As we work tirelessly to “Bring Peace of Mind to Everyone We Touch”, we must continue to be mindful of our own emotional well-being.  This is especially true during the pandemic, and even more so during times of loss.

After the untimely death of Khushbu Anderson in March of 2020, her team suggested the creation of an outdoor place where NLG associates could gather to honor the passing of a colleague.  A place of solitude where individuals could sit to breathe fresh air, collect their thoughts, reflect, and heal after the loss of a loved one.  A place of quiet mourning, beauty and tranquility.  A place of peace.

After a little bit of collaboration, planning and design work, the NLG Memorial Garden will be constructed this summer on the Vermont campus.  The garden will be located in a secluded portion of the back lawn (below the horseshoe pits), and will include a short path, bench and pergola.  Some trees will be planted around the perimeter of the garden by the Facilities team as part of their forest management strategy, but ultimately the majority of the plantings in the garden will be provided through donations.  Donations can include time (initial planting, upkeep, etc.), or actual plants (bulbs, plants, shrubs, etc.)

If you would like to honor the memory of a colleague or a loved one by donating, please email this completed form to: MemorialGarden@nationallife.com .
