Please Follow These Guidelines For Returns to VT Campus

We typically have a little more than 100 people working on the Vermont campus on any given day, a combination of the teams who have been there every day since March and the volunteers who began returning in July.

Occasionally, others have some need to go to the office, as well. So we thought this was a good time to explain the protocols for gaining access.

And just to be clear, this guidance applies for now only to the Montpelier office.

First, please to make sure to plan your visit in advance. There’s a lot that needs to be done each time someone wants to come in.

Just to give you an idea, the Business Continuity team needs to review the request and ensure that there is at least six feet of distance between your work space and that of anyone else already approved.

The IT team has to review your work station to make sure that it is properly equipped. (Some equipment was sent home or repurposed to make our remote work possible.)

And the Security team needs to reactivate your badge to give you access to the building.

So, given all of that, the Business Continuity team needs 48 hours of advance notice before your intended return, even if it’s only for a day at a time.

All of these steps have already been completed for anyone who signed up to volunteer to return to the office back in July and they don’t need to be repeated.

If you have any questions, or want to gain access to campus, please reach out to Bill Funk or Matt Brockett.

You’ll need to complete a few steps before entering the building, including undergoing a training program developed in conjunction with Vermont’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Each time anyone enters the campus, they must also be temperature-screened and attest to several health statements regarding Covid-19.

And, speaking of health, cold and flu season is getting started.

Especially in this time of the pandemic, we all need to be extra vigilant about caring for ourselves and keeping in mind the health of our families and coworkers.

If you have any signs of the cold or flu, please don’t plan to work in the office. Stay home and get well.

The advice that we’ve heard regarding the pandemic holds true here, as well:

  • Wear your mask when in the building and not at your desk.
  • Maintain adequate social distances.
  • Be sure to wash your hands frequently and thoroughly.

And if you have any signs of Covid-19 and have been in the office, please be sure to report to Michele Granitz. That will enable us to do contact tracing with others you might have interacted with and help them stay healthy. Your personal privacy will be maintained and your coworkers will also be protected.
