Recently, a group of our Dallas employees volunteered with Hunger Busters by making sandwiches and preparing sack lunches.
Hunger Busters is a Dallas-based charity focused on feeding kids and fueling futures by providing a much-needed third meal of the day to food-insecure children in the DISD through its signature “Feed the Need” after school program. The organization was founded in 2007 by EatZi’s owner Phil Romano. In 2017, Hunger Busters provided 350,000 meals to 11 schools and 6 after school programs. With the help of committed volunteers, caring partners, and donors, Hunger Busters will take a bite out of Dallas’ childhood hunger epidemic.
- 87% of DISD students are food-insecure
- $1.60/day pays for healthy meal for 1 student
- Meals provided average 2000 meals per day. The goal is to increase this to 14,000/day which cost an additional $250,000.
