Recently, National Life was presented with an award and an award nomination from the Vermont Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). ESGR, a Department of Defense office, develops and promotes employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and Service members.
Our teammate, Jeff Gleason, who is a member of the CIG Analytics team and a Staff Sergeant with the Vermont National Guard, nominated the company for its ongoing support of active-duty service members and veterans.
National Life received the Seven Seals Award which “bridges the spectrum between volunteers and citizen warriors.” We were also once again nominated for the Freedom Award which is the highest honor an employer can receive.
Explained David Wheel, Vice Chair of the Vermont ESGR, “It’s clear that National Life Group, since at least the mid-90s, has demonstrated a continuing high level of support for its Guard and Reserve members as well as for its other veterans. Following a review of the awards that National Life Group has received over the years, National Life received the Secretary of Defense Freedom Award, the highest award given, in 1996, and was also nominated in 2015, 2019, 2021, and 2022. Once received, however, an organization is no longer eligible to receive the award. The company also had three recipients of the Patriot Award and the Seven Seals Award.”
Hosted at the Vermont Army National Guard Army Mountain Warfare School in Jericho, over thirty employers were recognized for their ongoing support of Guard and Reserve members. This is the 50th anniversary of the ESGR.
A sincere thank you to Jeff and all our current and past members of the armed forces for your service.
