National Life Group Foundation Makes History

The National Life Group Foundation will donate more than $1.1 million to nonprofits in central and northern Vermont and the Dallas, Texas area, where the majority of our employees live. One grant will be the largest in the Foundation’s history. We’re planning a major announcement about that one so stay tuned!

A total of 216 grant applications came in during the Foundation’s enrollment period. After careful review, 145 were approved, including 15 that were more than $10,000 and required board approval.

One of those 15 is for the North Texas Food Bank. Katharine Weaver sent us a photo of her and her colleagues ringing the bells, a tradition the team has when they receive a significant donation. Said Katharine, “Thank you so much for sharing the great news and for your tremendous part in advocating on behalf of our mission. [National Life] is a treasured champion of NTFB and I can’t thank you enough. We look forward to putting this contribution to work for our neighbors.”

We continued to focus on key areas when making decisions including hunger, mental health, domestic violence victim support, homelessness, and community building.

Special thanks to the Foundation’s board, Tom MacLeay, Mehran, Chris Graff, and David Soccodato for their commitment to helping us do good.
