Michael Veilleux Promoted to Chief People Officer

CEO Mehran Assadi distributed the following announcement to all employees on May 20, 2021:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Veilleux to Vice President and Chief People Officer.  Michael will join my Executive Management Team and execute our People Center strategic plan, which includes organizational development and training, retention and recruiting, and a continuation of investment in our culture.

Growing and promoting talent within is a priority. Michael started his National Life journey in November of 2008 as a recruiter, focused on the acquisition of top talent. Since then he has held several positions within the People Center supporting and advocating for teams throughout the organization.  Most recently, Michael has been leading our Business Partner function, working with leaders and their teams to drive operational excellence and improve our overall organizational performance.  In 2020 and 2021 he has been a key partner to our CIG team as they have worked to transform leadership development.

Michael is authentic, grounded and humble – a true servant leader. He has a high degree of compassion and cares deeply for our associates and National Life. He is one of us.

As a lifelong learner, he values the power of knowledge and works with teams on value creation to enhance individual and team performance.  Michael served as Interim Chief People Officer for 15 months prior to Mark’s arrival – he learned from that experience and is now ready to apply that learning in this key leadership role. He leads by example and lives the learning.

Michael is originally from Maine and enjoys sailing, cycling and riding the rolling hills of Vermont on his Harley.

Please join me in congratulating him on his appointment. I am excited for Michael and us as we continue our journey to 2 million delighted customers.

Cheers,
