Students in Joplin, Missouri, are going to benefit for years to come from our LifeChanger of the Year educator recognition program.

That’s because this year’s LifeChanger Grand Prize Winner is paying it forward to students in her district because of the award she won.

Sue Day, who is a school counselor at Joplin High School, was revealed as this year’s winner last month.

That means that she was awarded $10,000, half for her personally and half for her school.

But she’s not keeping the money. Sue tells us that the checks to her and her school were used to establish the Sue Day LifeChanger Scholarship Fund.

“And it only gets better!,” Sue wrote in an email to LifeChanger. “The Joplin Schools Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise money for student technology needs, matched the $10,000 LifeChanger prize money with an additional $10,000.

“Scholarship applications will include a description of the LifeChanger mission and will give credit to the National Life Group for sponsoring the program. It is my hope that recipients of the LifeChanger scholarship will pay it forward by becoming change agents.”

This is truly what the LifeChanger program is all about, recognizing educators who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of their students.

It doesn’t get much more tangible than this.
