King Street Center Continues Summer Program With National Life Support

National Life is a proud supporter of King Street Center, a non profit community center that provides a safe gathering space for children in the Burlington area.

The Center serves more than 500 families with children ranging from ages 1 to 18. In addition to their toddler and preschool programs, they also provide an afterschool program and one of the largest mentoring programs in the state. The resources provided by King Street Center ensure that kids meet opportunity through learning, play and community.

This year, the National Life Foundation granted $5,000 to King Street Center in support of their programs. And while Covid-19 has thrown a wrench into some of their plans this summer, it’s clear that they’re still continuing to make a difference in the community.

We recently received a note from Susannah Kerest, Development Director at the Center, who provided us with a quick update on how the year is going so far:

THE GENEROUS GRANT WE RECEIVED FROM NATIONAL LIFE HAS BEEN A TRUE GIFT THIS SUMMER. WE REALLY TOOK OUR TIME WITH PLANNING THE CAMP SESSION FOR KING STREET CENTER KIDS AND WE’RE FEELING OPTIMISTIC ABOUT SHORT-TERM OUTCOMES. WHILE ALL THE SCHOOL SCHEDULE ANNOUNCEMENTS AND STRICT HEALTH GUIDELINES SEEM DAUNTING TO ADULTS, WE ARE CONFIDENT THAT THIS SUMMER HAS PUT OUR KIDS ON STRONG FOOTING TO MEET THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE YEAR AHEAD.
