This year, National Life Group and Sodexo will provide free community holiday meals in both Vermont and Dallas.

Last year, the Washington County Youth Service Bureau/Boys & Girls Club passed the baton to National Life and Sodexo of providing a free Thanksgiving meal to our neighbors in Washington County, and we provided more than 800 meals. This year, we have been asked to permanently run this event and are honored to partner with others in our community to keep the tradition going.

Since we’re still navigating the impact of Covid-19, we will once again provide free pick-up or delivery of a Thanksgiving meal to those who need one on Wednesday, November 24th. Pick up will be available in two locations: one outside Bethany Church in downtown Montpelier and the other outside the National Life Group main entrance from 10am–3pm. Deliveries will be from 10am–1pm. Our hope is to serve 1,000 community members.

We are excited to extend our giving to Vogel Alcove in Dallas! We have supported them and their good work for years through donations from our Foundation. Now we’re humbled to give back in this way, providing a nutritious and delicious meal and a moment or two of respite for 250–300 folks, including the kids who are cared for there. The dinner will be on Tuesday, November 30 from 5:00–7:00 pm. We will also have children’s activities, a visit from Santa, and take-home bags for parents that will include items like diapers, toiletries, and snacks.

We need to round up National Life volunteers to assist in both Vermont and Dallas with meal packaging, set up, handing out prepared meals, assisting and supervising kids’ areas, clean up, and most importantly, a Santa in Dallas! If you’re interested in helping, please reach out to Beth Rusnock and Jessica Russo at giving@nationallife.com.
