CFO Team Promotions

Sent on behalf of Michael Crawford:

I am pleased to announce that BK Choi has been promoted to the AVP and Actuary job band. BK joined NLG in December 2014, after moving from AIG in Houston and lives in the Dallas area.

BK has successfully led the Annuity Valuation for the past 2 years, improving processes and finding ways to speed up the financial reporting deadlines on NLG’s largest block of business.  BK has exhibited good leadership skills while managing his team and shown that he is a team player by coordinating the entire Valuation team during tasks like the annual GAAP assumption update cycle.  His successful leadership and technical skills have allowed him to totally take ownership of the annuity valuation role and have demonstrated that he has earned the position of AVP. Please congratulate BK on his well-earned promotion!

Please join me in congratulating Alina Moraru on her promotion to Assistant Actuary.  Alina first joined National Life Group as an intern in the summer of 2017 and started full time in the summer of 2018.  For her first two years she worked on the Product Implementation team in L&A Solutions and has since been on the Modeling team under the CFO.  Alina owns the modeling of our Traditional Life lines of business and has held an integral role in performing Cash Flow Testing, writing Actuarial Opinion Memorandums, and setting the dividend scale for the Closed Block.  Alina is a pleasure to work with and I look forward to watching her continue to grow as an aspiring actuary!

Sent on behalf of Joe Chen:

I’m pleased to announce the promotion of Amy Kunz to Actuarial Analyst II.  Amy joined National Life Group on a part-time basis in February 2020 and transitioned to full-time in September 2020.  She started on the Model Governance team where she worked on the Assumption Inventory project, including architecting the module design in Archer. For the last year she has been on the Traditional Life Valuation team, where she has worked on assumption setting for GAAP and PBR as well as modernizing the x-factor experience study process.  It’s been a pleasure getting to work with Amy for the last year, and I look forward to seeing how her promising career continues to develop!

A big congratulations to BK, Alina, and Amy!
