Sales of single serve  plastic bottled water will end in the Vermont café at the end of January.

The decision to end the sales was made as part of the installation of new Flowater service on both campuses and the distribution of refillable bottles as part of the company’s 2019 thank you gift.

Bottled water will no longer be stocked in vending machines  and Sodexo will continue to sell sparkling  and “enhanced” waters, such as seltzer, SmartWater and Vitamin Water.

Ending the sale of single-serve plastic bottled water will move National Life closer to sustainability.  There have been many studies about the environmental, health and economic problems associated with plastic bottled water.

Although sales of this product have historically been fairly low at National Life, the new policy will help keep the company’s operations at the forefront of the sustainability movement
