Many of us don’t think of ourselves as Board of Director material but the reality is that we are! Nonprofit organizations typically have Boards that are critical to the organization’s success, helping with everything from setting strategic direction to fundraising and marketing.

There are currently two organizations seeking new board members:

Mosaic Vermont: Mosaic helps people heal from sexual harm. It does prevention work in the community and schools, responds to hotline calls, provides shelter and transitional housing, and provides support at the hospital when rape victims are getting examined by a nurse. This strategic plan gives an overview of where Mosaic is at and what direction it’s taking.  Currently Mosaic has five board members, with a goal of eight.  One of its gaps in board membership is financial expertise. It would also like to recruit board members from the Washington/Williamstown/Northfield area, the Mad River Valley, and people with event planning experience.  If you’re interested, contact Dillon Burns dillonteachoutburns@gmail.com.

Shidaa Projects, Inc.: Shidaa African Culture Project is a West African organization specializing in conducting workshops in schools and community organizations throughout Vermont and New England as well as the entire Northeast U.S. to promote diversity through drumming, dance, fabric printing with Adinkra symbols, drum making, beading, and cooking. In the organization’s 2019 Ghana Project, they shipped bicycles, toys, computers, and other household goods to distribute to needy children, families, and schools in Ghana.

Shidda is looking for board members from any location who can offer time and enthusiasm with experience in cultural and diversity education particularly in schools, networking, website and social media outreach, and, someone with experience shipping internationally.
