We are ready for another great party on the back lawn for this summer’s Do Good Fest!

Guster will headline the 2017 show, which takes place on July 15 from 3 to 9 p.m.

Many of you know Guster from some of its hit songs, including “Satellite,” “Amsterdam,” and “Careful.” Guster, which is an alternative rock band based in Boston with a loyal and devoted following, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this summer.

And it has a local connection. Guster’s percussionist – he’s more than a drummer, if you know much about the band – is Brian Rosenworcel and he lives in Burlington.

With the addition of Guster, we have nearly filled the lineup for this year’s show. Kat Wright, who leads an amazing Burlington-based blues and soul band, will open the show at 4 p.m. She has a new album out this year and is sure to draw plenty of people.

And Dwight & Nicole will go on stage at 5 p.m., featuring their roots-soul music that won them Band of the Year at the New England Music Awards last year. They’re also based in Burlington and have just released a new album.

We still have one more band to announce, an opener for Guster at 6 p.m. We’re still negotiating on that one.

We haven’t publicly announced that Guster will headline the show this year. We wanted to share it with you first. The formal announcement is expected next week.

The rest of Do Good Fest should look pretty familiar. We’ll have the popular children’s area. We’ve added even more food trucks with even more selections this year. We plan to increase the size of the beer and wine garden. We’ll feature a couple of dozen charities who will tell their stories in the Nonprofit Village.

And all of it will benefit Branches of Hope, the cancer patient fund at Central Vermont Medical Center. Admission is free, and all of the parking fees of $20 per vehicle will be donated to Branches of Hope.
