There are several opportunities to lend a hand at The Intervale Center in Burlington, VT! Groups are especially welcome but there are opportunities for individuals, too!
Intervale Conservation Nursery: The Intervale Conservation Nursery grows native, locally sourced trees and shrubs for riparian restoration projects throughout Vermont and works with landowners, farmers, watershed organizations and government agencies to restore and protect Vermont’s waters.
Intervale Gleaning & Food Rescue: Intervale Gleaning and Food Rescue develops sustainable solutions to improve food access in Vermont. Utilizing primarily volunteer labor, the program gleans and rescues fresh food from Intervale farms during the growing season and packages it into weekly free food shares for individuals, families and social service agencies. This allows community members and organizations to access fresh, local food from farms they know. In 2019, our goal is to provide 200 families and 20 social service agencies with 60,000 lbs of food over a 16-week period!
