Vermont Department of Financial Regulation Praises National Life

Michael Pieciak, Vermont’s commissioner of the Department of Financial Regulation, had high praise for National Life in a visit to our offices this week.

Pieciak came to the office to introduce new members of his team and to meet our newly appointed general counsel, Chris Zimmerman.

In a roundtable discussion, National Life leaders provided updates on the company performance while Pieciak and his team talked about issues they are focusing on.

Pieciak congratulated National Life on its tremendous earning and sales growth and its focus on doing good in the marketplace and in the communities it serves.

Pieciak was first appointed by Governor Peter Shumlin in July 2016 and reappointed by Governor Phil Scott in December 2016.

He serves as the chief regulator of Vermont’s financial services sector, including the insurance, captive insurance, banking and securities industries. Commissioner Pieciak previously served as deputy commissioner of the department’s Securities Division, where he led the division’s investigation into the Jay Peak EB-5 projects. Commissioner Pieciak is president of the North American Securities Administrators Association, a member of the SEC Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies and member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
