The Vermont campus celebrated 170 years of doing good at the annual employee picnic this week.

An enormous cake graced the back lawn and a DJ spun celebratory songs as our big team gathered under a tent.

New England Culinary Institute prepared a delicious barbecue feast of chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket and barbecued tofu.

There was even a special guest chef behind the grill: CEO Mehran Assadi.

There were also special Happy Birthday cupcakes to celebrate our 170th year.

A round of Happy Birthday was sung, but not for National Life. It also happened to be Mehran’s birthday.
