I am pleased to announce the promotion and appointment of Varun Kumar as Vice President & Chief Technology Officer for National Life Group.
The CTO role is critical at National Life as we scale with technology to serve Middle America with a focus on Customer Experience. Varun’s abilities to drive with strategic intent, cultivate innovative thinking and develop his teammates have moved the needle for technology at National Life. Since joining us in 2019, Varun has been focused on delivering initiatives in Data, Digital, NuBiz and Application Integration.
Varun has more than 20 years of experience in the Insurance Industry serving in various leadership roles at Sun Life, Broadridge and Voya Financial. He brings a passion for leading large-scale transformations, enabling the business with technology. In addition to Project Manager Professional and FLMI certifications, Varun has a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Nagpur University in India and an MBA in Finance from the University of Toronto, Canada.
In his spare time, Varun is a self-proclaimed techno-geek at heart and enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and experimenting with futuristic technology and engineering. Varun lives in Frisco, TX with his wife and 4-year-old daughter Sur (which means music/rhythm in Hindi).
Varun in his new role will lead the Architecture and Field Technology team. He will also continue to lead the Data team as we recruit for the new Head of Data.
