Grow your own way: Toastmasters leadership program…Redesigned! National Life’s Toastmasters Club, The Speakeasies, has adopted the all-new leadership learning program introduced by Toastmasters International.

The first complete redesign since the organization’s founding in 1924, “Pathways” allows members to select one of 10 specific learning areas, or “paths” and complete projects developing five core competencies related to each path.

The 10 Paths:

  • Dynamic Leadership
  • Effective Coaching
  • Innovative Planning
  • Leadership Development
  • Motivational Strategies
  • Persuasive Influence
  • Presentation Mastery
  • Strategic Relationships
  • Team Collaboration
  • Visionary Communication

The 5 Core Competencies:

  • Public Speaking
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Management
  • Confidence

The club is a diverse group of supportive people who gather for one hour twice a month to learn, share, and – always – laugh. Dues are paid by National Life.

We meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month at noon EST, usually in the Eagle board room. For Texas teammates, we are looking into using Skype, though enough interest could warrant starting a local club, or reaching out to existing clubs in the area.

The next meeting is Wednesday, November 7th at noon in Eagle. Guests are welcome.

For questions, reach out to club officers Alex Mazuzan, Elizabeth Waring, Crystal Dermody-Waldo, Frank Richmond, Janet Astore, or Darryl Garland.
