Three different employees at Equity Services Inc. have received promotions. Here are two separate announcements about them.
Please join me in congratulating Justin Setter on his promotion to Senior Suitability Review Principal! Justin has been a Suitability Review Principal with ESI for about 2 years and has been providing our registered reps with indispensable service since day one all while managing a high workload and welcoming additional responsibilities.
Our team faces daily challenges and the stakes are high to get business approved in a timely manner while also being mindful of potential risks. The interactions we have can delight a rep or cause them to resent us and view the team as an obstacle. Justin’s gracefully navigates these conversations. His patience, ability to dispense just the right amount of technical knowledge, and thoughtful insight leave the reps feeling delighted. His industry experience with LPL, Advisor Group, etc. have proved to be beneficial as the team pursues ways to make it easier to do business and on our quest for greatness.
Congrats on this well-deserved promotion and thanks for your many contributions, Justin!

Please join me in congratulating Sten Jostrand and Whitney Commo on their recent promotions within the Brokerage Operations Team.
Sten has been promoted to an Operations Suitability Review Principal. He has already been completing Principal sign-off of our maintenance/money movement items, check deposits, and various firm exception reports. Moving forward he will be signing off on new business and taking on more supervisory functions within the team.
Sten’s participation in the NL C-Squad and his diligence in reviewing our disbursement activity has been extremely important in mitigating firm risk related to fraudulent transactions (knock on wood). He was integral in developing new controls related to disbursements which will be going live shortly. He is also our most experienced trader and brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. He has a great attitude and is always willing to help out other areas when needed. I rely upon him greatly for all things trading.
Whitney Commo is being promoted to a Senior Operations Representative to incorporate her Transition Coordinator responsibilities into her current role. Whitney’s transition responsibilities have always been extremely important to ESI and they will become more important as we move towards our future as ESI 2.0.
The reps that she has helped onboard have spoken extremely highly of the level of service and attention to detail that Whitney has brought to the transition process. As many of you know, the process can be cumbersome, stressful, and labor-intensive. Whitney’s operational experience has helped reduce some of those pressures and create a positive experience for our reps. Our GA’s (such as Jim Ortenzio and Vic Muro) have always offered praise and gratitude for the service she has provided their new recruits. They put a lot of trust into Whitney to keep up the promises they make in recruiting.
Congrats to both, the recognition is well-deserved.
