Our Community Giving Campaign, which is open to all employees and retirees, ends a week from today. Don’t miss your chance to double your money with a match of up to $1,500 from the National Life Foundation.
During the campaign, we’ve been sharing our teammates’ causes with you. Today, we were able to learn more about the nonprofits that Minh Pham supports with the help of the campaign match.
Please start by naming the nonprofit(s) that you contribute to and the work that they do.
I give to the North Texas Foodbank, Meals on Wheels and Wounded Warriors.
The North Texas Foodbank passionately pursues a hunger-free community. This organization provides access to nearly 190,000 nutritious meals each day from distributing donated, purchased and prepared foods for children, seniors, and families.
Meals on Wheels operates in virtually every community in America. At the core, its service is a nutritious meal, companionship, and a watchful eye on the health and safety of seniors.
The Wounded Warriors Project’s mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. WWP is the hand extended to encourage warriors as they adjust to their “new normal,” and achieve new triumphs.
Please explain why you chose the organization(s) that you did, and share the personal connection you have with this organization.
I chose to contribute financially and in volunteer time to the two organizations that provide food service to people in need because food is such a basic necessity, and hunger is a pervasive problem in our own community.
For Wounded Warriors Project, the reason for giving is more personal. I want to spread kindness, since our family experienced the support that allowed us to recover from the devastating effects of war; where one brother was wounded and another was killed.
I felt that our family also owed our safe journey to the U.S. over 40 years ago to the brave U.S. Marines.
If you’d like to help spread the good to your favorite charities, employees can view our online form here .
Retirees can email Tanya Culcleasure directly for the form and instructions.
Donations will be sent in January 2018 along with a letter to the nonprofit(s) with your specific contribution. The money will be taken through a payroll deduction in 2018 as 26 bi-weekly payments or as one lump sum in the beginning of the year (your choice).
You can choose up to three nonprofits to give to; and remember, we’ll match your donations up to $1,500 through the National Life Group Foundation.
This means a $10 donation becomes $20, a $50 donation becomes $100, and a $1,500 donation becomes $3,000!
