The soft opening of the Vermont campus will continue as it is for now and there are no plans to reopen the Texas campus until coronavirus infection rates come down.
“I don’t envision us having a soft opening in Texas, not at the earliest until October,” CEO Mehran Assadi said at an all-employee meeting. “We are dealing with a lot of unknowns as far as the next months are concerned.”
“I am extremely curious to see what happens with schools opening up now in Texas, with schools opening in Vermont, as to the statistics, the rates of infection and recovery,” he said. The month of September will be instructive on those measurements and will inform National Life’s decisions.
“We are dealing with a lot of unknowns as far as the next months are concerned,” Mehran said. “I would like to share with you that I will be giving you four weeks of head start once we have determined when, in a staggered and responsible manner, we will be returning back to the office.”
There will still be employees who have personal circumstances that complicate a return to the office and even a regular schedule while working remotely. Employees and managers need to find ways to accommodate the different situations, Mehran said.
“Flexibility is something that your leaders will leverage in order to work with you in an orderly balance of your professional life and your personal life,” he said.
