A few months ago we introduced you to Beanies for Babies, a charity founded by Ronald Dean Clark, a prominent agent of ours in the Tampa, Florida area.

The charity relies on volunteers to handcraft hats for premature babies across the country. One of those volunteers, Sentinel’s Robin LaHue, answered the call and created more than 50 hats for donation!

THIS IS  A GREAT PROJECT FOR A GOOD CAUSE. I MADE 50+ HATS JUST AT NIGHT, WATCHING TV. I AM SHIPPING THEM TO THE AGENCY TODAY, THEY PAY FOR THE FEDEX. THEY LIKE TO GET THEM IN BATCHES OF 50 -100. I AM TAKING A LITTLE BREAK AND THEN I WILL MAKE SOME MORE. THERE A LOTS OF FREE PATTERNS ON LINE FOR PREEMIE HATS, AND THE AGENCY WILL BUY THE YARN FOR YOU IF YOU NEED IT.  I USED MY OWN YARN, IT HAS TO BE ACRYLIC FOR EASE OF CARE. YOU CAN KNIT OR CROCHET, I DID CROCHETING.  IT IS FUN TO THINK OF THE LITTLE ONES THAT WILL WEAR THE HATS.  MY TWIN GRANDDAUGHTERS WERE BOTH IN THE NICU WHEN THEY WERE BORN, SO THIS PROJECT IS ESPECIALLY MEANINGFUL ME.  THEY ARE NOW BRIGHT, BEAUTIFUL 14 YEAR OLD’S. I AM SHARING TO ENCOURAGE OTHER CRAFTERS TO PARTICIPATE! – ROBIN LAHUE
