During the months of December and January, the Underwriting team was challenged to stock their local SPCA, food shelter or pantry. Many donated food and other items, while others contributed their time & smiles.

Check out the list below:

  • Jodi Royer & Kim Renzello volunteered at the Community Holiday Meal at National Life.  Both of these ladies are also on the E.A.T. committee, which supports National Life’s cause to end childhood hunger in Vermont. They also participated in packaging 6,018 pounds of meat at the Vermont Foodbank which amounts to 5,015 meals for Vermonters facing hunger.
  • Kathryn Francoeur donated to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, a summer camp for kids who have or had cancer; donated to Gift it Forward, which buys cat and dog food for Feeding Chittenden and gifted Christmas presents for a child through LundVT, which helps children in Vermont.
  • Bill Wehage & his wife donated food items through their church, to help the Des Moines Food Pantry.
  • Nancy Hujar & her husband adopt a family each Christmas, through their local domestic violence shelter. This year was a 26 year old mom and her 5 year old son. They have recently left the shelter,  just moved to their new apartment and are starting a new life.  They also donated through the Share The Good campaign to two animal related facilities in their home town.
  • Jen Kreutz, her husband and two daughters donated their time at the Tree House Humane Society making toys for the cats at the shelter and decorating the boxes that the Human Society puts out for the feral cats to have a place to call home. They also volunteered through the Chicago based group, The Honeycomb Project, which creates volunteer opportunities for families with children of all ages.
  • Michael Boutin helped the Barre Partnership with their annual Christmas for Kids Coin/Dollar collection to purchase, wrap and deliver gifts to the local children.
  • Jan Prive and her grandson, Hunter, purchased boots and a grocery card for a child at his school. They also purchased gifts for a child in need through their church.
  • Ruth Bennick donated through the Share the Good campaign. She picked her local food bank and an organization that packs backpacks for kids with food for the weekend.
  • Christine Fagerlie makes regular donations via Smile.Amazon.Com, and to a local raptor center in her area that rehabs injured birds of prey. Every time you order something from Amazon, a portion of the proceeds goes to the charity.
  • Pam Hickcox donated a bunch of flannel sheets to her local animal shelter, to help keep the fur babies warm.
  • Adria Halstead-Johnson donated through the Share The Good campaign to The Cats at Longstreet and Fast Friends Greyhound Adoption Center.
  • Oneeza Salavani helped serve meals at the Lotus House in Miami for the National Life sponsored Super Bowl event.
  • Monica Dion & Stephanie Croteau dropped off donations and hung out with the kitties at their local Humane Society.

That’s A LOT of GOOD! Thanks for making a difference, Underwriting team!
