Mallorie Lyford smoked the competition at the 34th running of the Corporate Cup and State Agency Race this week in Montpelier.

Mallorie, who works in National Life’s payment center and therefore was wearing the Do Good green, won the women’s race handily.

She finished the 5 kilometer run in 19:14, a full 15 seconds ahead of the next woman runner.

Congratulations to Mallorie and all of the roughly 300 National Life employees who ran, walked or volunteered at this year’s race. Check out the gallery of photos. Our original story in advance of the event is below.

Our Numbers Continue To Grow: Nearly 300 Participate In Corporate Cup

A sea of green swept through the annual Corporate Cup and State Agency Race in downtown Montpelier yesterday. It was the 34th annual running of the race, which is sponsored by the Vermont Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

Runners and walkers cover a 5 kilometer course that starts and ends on the Statehouse lawn and snakes through the neighborhoods surrounding downtown Montpelier.

The event is designed to promote physical fitness and to promote community building.

As usual, National Life was all-in because we’re huge supporters of those goals.

We fielded 92 teams of three runners or walkers and we offered nearly two dozens volunteers to help with registration, to monitor the course and otherwise ensure a smooth event. We often have the largest team among the roughly 4,000 people who participate.

Plus National Life employees have always been heavily involved in helping to organize the race from year to year.
