Obituary: Tyler J. “TC” Curtis

Tyler Josiah “TC” Curtis, 17, of Railroad Street, son of Derek Curtis of the National Life IT team, died on Sunday, May 6, 2018, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. 

TC was born in Claremont, NH, on January 3, 2001, to Derek and Ranee (Porter) Curtis.  He was a junior at the Blue Mountain Union School in Wells River, VT.

TC was active in the school community where he was known as a leader.  He was a member of the baseball team where he was a first baseman, shortstop, and pitcher.  He also played varsity basketball for the Bucks.

TC worked for the Crowns on their dairy farm and for Blue Mountain Excavating with Jeremy Bogie.  He also worked with his best friend, Dylan Smith, at Woodsville Power Equipment working on equipment and landscaping.

In his free time, he went snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and hunting with family and friends.  He loved going to Bear Ridge, practical joking, and riding around the area in his truck.  TC was a Proud American and was very opinionated in his beliefs.  He appreciated the simple life and loved being with family and friends.

Tyler is survived by his parents, Derek and Ranee Curtis of Groton; his brother, Ryan Curtis and girlfriend Paxton Ricker of Bradford, VT; maternal grandparents, William Porter and wife Carolyn of Virginia; maternal great grandmother Katharine Blanchard of Enfield, NH; paternal grandparents, Alton Curtis, Jr. and wife Linda of Virginia; paternal great grandfather, Alton Curtis, Sr. of Claremont; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Anita Pollard.

There will be no calling hours.

A funeral service will be on Saturday, May 12 at 11 AM at the Blue Mountain Union School, 2420 US Route 302, Wells River.  Casual wear will be appreciated.  A private burial will be observed in the Groton Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
