Middlesex, VT- Mary Clare Anna (Grimard) LaCount, 77, passed away peacefully, held and surrounded by her family, at University of Vermont Medical Center on Nov. 13, 2017.

Born in Graniteville on Dec. 20, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Aurore (Roy) Grimard.

Mary graduated from Spaulding High School in 1957 and was working at Woolworth’s when she met her future husband, Armand C. LaCount. They married on July 1, 1961. She retired from National Life Insurance Co. as a tape librarian in 1999.

Mary enjoyed spending time with family and watching her grand- and great-grandchildren grow. She held them close and always made time for each and every one of them to share her heart, wisdom and life.

Along with her love of family, Mary loved Christmas – the lights, the trees, giving gifts and baking. On a most recent Christmas, she made and gifted the favorite entrĂ© of each of her boys, from Swiss steak to fried chicken, and all received whoopie pies. It was important to her that her children and family had a happy Christmas.

Mary was also interested in researching genealogy, loved flowers, and a good book. Possessions that brought her the most joy included things that people had made for her.

Mary was predeceased by her parents and sister, Lucille Grimard. She is survived by her husband; son Armand LaCount Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Waterbury; son David and his wife, Pamela, of Worcester; son Brian and his wife, Kim, of Moretown; as well as six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her older brothers, Marcel Grimard and his wife, Pamela, of Hull, Georgia, and Rene Grimard and his wife, Lois, of Burlington, Vermont.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Nov. 29 in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Randolph Center, Vermont, at 1 p.m. There will be a gathering to follow at St. Sylvester in Graniteville.

Arrangements are in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre, Vermont.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, https://www.diabetesresearch.org.
