When the IT Department learned that Washington County Mental Health Services, a local non-profit here in Central Vermont were in desperate need of computer equipment, they jumped at the chance to help.
Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS), has been working to make a positive impact in the community for close to 50 years. In the past year alone, around 5,000 individuals accessed their Crisis, Adult Mental Health and Addiction, Developmental Disability, or Youth and Family Services.
When WCMHS first reached out for help, they were looking for two laptops to assist their Employment Services team in conducting job searches and other basic tasks. Their staff had limited access to computers in general, and – as is often the case in the non-profit sector – much of what they had was exceptionally outdated.
Every so often, when we upgrade to more modern devices, we find ourselves with a surplus of discharged equipment, so NLIT has several such pieces of equipment – laptops and desktops, as well as numerous accessories in storage.
NLIT was able to donate 20 Dell computers – 10 laptops and 10 desktops, including monitors, keyboards and mice – to WCMHS’s South Barre facility. Magesh Elangovan and Christina D’Agostino, pictured to the right, delivered this equipment to WCMHS’s Shawn Manwaring, Mike Lefebvre, and Kamran Rizvi.
Shawn and his team were very appreciative, and anxious to get their own business partners up and running on this upgraded equipment.
