Mehran Assadi praised the new president of the American Council of Life Insurers as “a breath of fresh air.”
“It’s an exciting time at ACLI,” said Mehran as he welcomed Susan Neely to Vermont. He said that Neely is working to ensure that the ACLI is more proactive in promoting the value of life insurance and retirement security. “She has a fresh perspective.”
Susan has served as ACLI president for roughly a year. ACLI is the nation’s leading trade association dedicated to providing products and services that contribute to Americans’ financial and retirement security.
Mehran had invited Susan to Vermont to get to know National Life, which is the fastest growing life insurance company in America.
Over the course of two days Susan met with many company leaders and spoke to senior leaders about the mission of ACLI.
She and Mehran also had breakfast with Vermont Gov. Phil Scott and then lunch with U.S. Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt. David Coates, who has served on the National Life board for 25 years, also attended the meetings with the Vermont political leaders.
Both leaders talked about the important role that National Life plays in the state.
Joining Susan from ACLI were Jill Kozeny, senior vice president of communications and public affairs, and Regina Rose, senior vice president, taxes and retirement security
Susan said that “it is an honor to be at National Life.
“We better understand your purpose-driven culture,” she said.
The visit was arranged and coordinated by general counsel Chris Zimmerman and his government relations team of Susan Jennings and Keith Jones. Patti Morrison, the executive assistant to the law department, handled the logistics.
