National Life’s Directors are gathering this week via Zoom as they hold their annual retreat virtually. Normally the Directors hold the retreat at the Montpelier campus, meeting Thursday through Saturday.

This year’s pandemic has forced the retreat to be held virtually – from the Directors’ homes.

The agenda is still quite packed – covering the quarterly business updates plus a report from Task Force 175, which was created by Mehran to develop a three-year strategy for the company – carrying us through 2023, which will be the 175th anniversary of the chartering of National Life Insurance Co.

Mehran is the chairman of the Board. Tom MacLeay, a former company CEO and board chairman, is the lead independent director.

Rounding out the board are: Yvette Bright, Carol Carlson, David Coates, James Douglas, Bruce Lisman, Roger Porter and Harris Simmons.
