National Life was celebrated by Vermont’s governor and Montpelier’s mayor this week for helping to make a public skating rink happen.
For the second consecutive year, a temporary rink has been erected on the Statehouse lawn.
National Life helped fund the planning and design of the project a few years ago.
When it appeared that the project might not happen this year, the city’s funding options became limited.
Ultimately, Gov. Phil Scott threw his political weight behind the project and made sure the rink was available again this year.
By that time, Montpelier and the Montpelier Alive downtown business organization had to scramble for funding and National Life stepped up to help.
The governor and Mayor John Hollar held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the rink this week and thanked National Life for our support.
