We certainly demonstrated our values to Do Good in the community for Thanksgiving.

In partnership with Sodexo, our food service provider on the Vermont campus, we served up 820 traditional Thanksgiving meals to the community.

And 31 volunteers and 19 delivery drivers turned out to help distribute the meals at a site in downtown Montpelier and at our own front door.

Because of the pandemic, our volunteers were able to carry prepackaged meals to each person who requested one.

National Life stepped in when the group that has organized a sit-down holiday community meal for the past 47 years decided it was impossible to do during Covid.

National Life Group Foundation President Beth Rusnock took up the baton and organized the event with Covid safeguards in place.

The pandemic made it impossible to have a communal meal. But the massive effort ensured that families throughout central Vermont and even some students at the University of Vermont had a traditional meal for the holiday.

It’s humbling to see our teams pitching in, wearing masks and practicing social distancing, to make sure that we live the values that we espouse.

Thank you and congratulations to everyone who was involved in the effort.
