CEO Mehran Assadi led a delegation of National Life leaders on an industry lobbying blitz on Capitol Hill this week.
Mehran and General Counsel Greg Woodworth met with Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy while others from National Life spent time with Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt. There were also meetings with members of Congress from other states and their staffs, including those representing Texas.
The meetings were organized as part of the annual National Life Group Flow Annuity Council meeting and came at a key moment as Congress continues to work on tax bills that are important to the industry.
The National Life leaders were joined by our leading annuity agencies during the sessions on Capitol Hill.
“We stressed the importance of middle America, teachers, pretax savings, guaranteed income and the unintended consequences that these tax proposals could have if enacted,” said Senior Vice PresidentLouis Puglisi, who was a member of one of the teams on Capitol Hill.
