National Life Group is top in the state for annual revenue, according to Vermont Business Magazine (VBM).

As we get ready to celebrate our 175th anniversary, our Founding Fathers would be very proud that we continue to grow and to lead in Vermont!

Founded in 1972, VBM began its annual top 100 businesses rankings in 1987. According to the publication: “Since then there have been only four companies that have been Number One: National Life Group, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Fletcher Allen Health Care (now The University of Vermont Medical Center) and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc (now Keurig Dr Pepper and based in Plano, TX).”

Both C&S and Keurig Dr. Pepper are no longer based in Vermont.

The article goes on to state: “Leading the way for those still on the list is our first and current top firm, National Life(link is external), which is not only the largest Vermont-based firm but one that also consistently boasts strong growth. Congratulations to them.”

The ranking is based on company-submitted financial information and by public sources like the SEC, IRS and the Green Mountain Care Board.

National Life is listed as having $2.89 billion in revenue for 2022, almost twice that of University of Vermont Medical Center coming in at 2nd place with $1.5 billion. Cabot Creamery Cooperative, Inc., came in 3rd with $1.2 billion.

Congratulations to all who made this a reality and keep up the good work!
