Nancy LeClerc, a senior cash management associate in the treasurer’s area, retired late last month after an incredible 45 years at National Life.

Before she left, we wanted ask her a few questions about her time here. Here’s what she had to say.

Q. Where did you grow up? Where do you live now? Can you tell us about your family?

 A. I have grown up and lived in Barre, Vermont, all of my life. I am married to a great guy, have 2 wonderful kids and 3 GREAT GREAT grandchildren.

Q. What has been your favorite part of working at National Life?

A. Being part of the National Life family.

Q. What is your funniest moment during your time at National Life?

A. Nothing sticks out specifically that I can mention, except being able to have Justin Daniels paged over the intercom numerous times.  It was our location device for Justin

Q. What would most surprise your co-workers to know about you?

A. I raise chickens and I started the Broomball league in Central Vermont back in 1981

Q. What different jobs and roles have you held at National Life?

A. I started in the File Room then transferred to New Business which is where I met my longtime best friend Vicky McDonald then to HO Payroll and finally my Cash Management job which has evolved over the years.

Q. If you could give a piece of advice, what would it be?

A. EFT – Electronic Funds Transfer

Q. Did you plan for National Life to be your career when you joined in 1973?

A. No,  I was staying for one year until I figured out what I wanted to be and where I wanted to go.

Q. Can you describe yourself in five words or less?

A. Queen Bee

Q. What is the first thing you’ll do on the first day of your retirement?

A. Have an extra cup of coffee and get ready for our upcoming cruise.

Q. Beyond that first day, what are your plans for retirement?

A. We recently purchased a small piece of property on Lake Elmore and our plan is to spend time there enjoying family and friends.  Enjoying life !!
