I am pleased to announce the promotion of Jason Doiron to Executive Vice President of National Life Group.
Jason, who joined National Life in 2008, has been our Chief Investment Officer since 2016. Jason’s role is central to our mission of keeping our promises. In that critical role he is responsible for setting and executing the investment strategy and asset allocations for our investment portfolios, which total more than $30 billion. His leadership of our investment team enables National Life to insure the lives of – and provide long term retirement solutions for – our customers.
Thanks to Jason’s leadership our investment portfolio has performed exceptionally well and has been resilient throughout the unpredictable and challenging times of the past year. That’s because he and the investment management team began preparing for such a scenario several years ago.
Jason has been instrumental in helping me and the other members of Task Force 175 develop our new 2023 strategic plan. A critical element of that plan is to further leverage our investment strategy to diversify our earnings sources. He is also a faculty member of our Strategic Thinking Institute and has been an early and strong advocate for our learning organization.
Jason came to National Life to head up our fixed income investments and to serve as a portfolio manager of our Sentinel retail mutual funds. Previously, he was director of quantitative trading – US debt markets for the Royal Bank of Canada’s Capital Markets group. Prior to that, he worked for Citigroup Global Investments.
Jason will continue to report to me and remains a member of the Executive Management Team.
