As we headed off of our two campuses to become a remote work force, we had a handful of vacancies in key areas that needed to be filled to keep us operating efficiently.

But the moment didn’t allow for the hiring and onboarding process.

So, what to do? Turn to the people who had done it so well for so long for National Life.

We made a few key rehires of retirees in the days after we left to work from home. And a few who were due to retire in coming weeks agreed to extend their time with National Life to get us through the immediate future.

The biggest need was in the Payment Center, reports Heather Funk from the People Center.

“Therefore we called upon Susan Dunlap (2018 retiree – 34 years at NLG), Barbara Roberson (2020 retiree – 36 years at NLG) and former Support Clerk Jason Wolf to that area (not a retiree).,” Heather said. “Adding these three employees was instrumental in keeping on top of the workload as we had people out and these employees were already trained, so we just had to get them access.”

Heather reports that three impending retirements were also delayed. They were Judy MacCormack (46 years) in Marketing, Ann Rangaviz (39 years) in Claims and Ansel Quintin (31 years) in Facilities.

Here’s a huge shoutout and thank you to each of them from all the rest of us.
