Good Morning Main Street!

As many of you know, each summer NLG interns take part in strategic project groups to address issues faced by the company. Our project group, comprised of Emma Sippel, Johanna Mitchell, Brandon Pedley, Elizabeth Rogers, Journey Bray, Matthew Bouffard and Rabab Saleem, is working towards leveraging Glassdoor.com to help NLG recruit the best and brightest talent over the next five years.

We wanted to take a quick minute to introduce ourselves and let you know about our project!

Hey everyone, my name is Emma Sippel! Born and raised in Wisconsin, I bravely decided to adventure to Vermont for the summer and am interning with Financial & Operational Risk Management. This fall I will return home for my senior year at Concordia University Wisconsin where I am obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting as well as my Masters of Business Administration with a Concentration in Human Resource Management! I love to keep busy by exploring the outdoors, playing sports, or relaxing with a good book. I’m looking forward to enjoying the rest of my summer here in Vermont and connecting with so many new faces at NLG!

Hi! My name is Johannah Mitchell and I am an intern working in Distribution Finance and the People Center. I grew up in Burlington, VT and attend school at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where I am an Industrial and Labor Relations major. In my free time I like to hike, go out to breakfast, and spend time with family & friends. I look forward to spending the summer at National Life learning about the company and potential career paths.

My name is Brandon Pedley, age 21, and I am currently an intern at National Life working in the New Business department in operations and as a research analyst. I am soon to be a graduate from Norwich University where I study Business with a concentration in Sports Management. In my time at Norwich, I have played varsity Baseball and served as the team captain both junior and senior year. When I am not in the class room or behind the desk at National Life, I enjoy spending time on the golf course and on the water at my family’s Lake Camp fishing and swimming. In the colder time of the years I still stay outside in the woods hunting various types of game animals.

Hi, my name is Elizabeth Rogers. I am a summer legal associate in the Law Department at the Vermont campus. As current 2L at Georgetown University Law Center, I plan to pursue a career in securities law. In my free time, I enjoy skiing, world travel, and time with family and friends.

Hello, my name is Journey Bray! I am an actuarial intern at the Texas campus. Currently, I am a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas double majoring in Actuarial Science and Mathematics. I was born and raised in Dallas, and whenever I am not at the office, I enjoy spending my time outdoors. I am excited for my time here at National Life Group!

Greetings NLG! My name is Matt Bouffard and I am the Financial Planning & Analysis Intern under Troy Goliber. I am a rising Junior Business Administration student at the University of Vermont with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. My degree theme is Global Business and my minor is Economics. I am from Colchester, Vermont and I enjoy fishing and playing tennis in my spare time. I hope to gain more experience in the financial services industry and intern for a public accounting firm next summer.

Hi everyone, my name is Rabab Saleem, and I am currently a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas, doing a double major in Neuroscience and Computer science. After graduation, I plan to pursue a master’s in Business administration and work in the fields of IT or Business Analysis. I see myself as self-starter and a leader through my volunteer experiences. I served as the vice-president of the Gamma Sigma Sigma Chapter at UTD and a consistent volunteer for the Texas Presbyterian Hospital. I am also an active member of the Active minds and Women who Compute Organizations. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and traveling.
