Five nominees for our LifeChanger of the Year educator recognition program were honored this week at a University of Vermont men’s basketball game.

National Life is the season sponsor of UVM basketball and took the opportunity of “fan appreciation night” at Patrick Gym to spread even more appreciation.

Vermont educators who have been nominated as LifeChangers were invited to the game to enjoy the action against the University of Maine.

At halftime, they were introduced at center court. And one, Jillian Zeilenga, a teacher at East Montpelier Elementary School, was given the opportunity to score some extra cash for each of their schools.

She was given the opportunity to sink one of three shots from the foul line to earn $250 donations to the schools.

Each of her three shots, unfortunately, missed. But as we were announcing we would make the donations, anyway, she made a fourth attempt!

National Life employees and executives were among the several thousand who thronged Patrick Gym for the game.

Oh, and by the way, the hometown Catamounts swamped the Maine Bears, winning 77-52.
