Earlier this month, field leaders from both the Career and Independent channels visited the Vermont office and created connections through several events and do good activities.

On the agenda included a Connections Tour during which small groups walked the floors learning more about what each department at National Life does, a farewell dinner, attendance at the company picnic, and, of course, a do good activity!

Some highlights on the agenda included:

  • Joint sessions including a “Best Practices Roundtable” to build relationships among Field Leaders of both channels and to share best practices and ideas with various perspectives and approaches.  Later the same evening, the Career team had dinner at Von Trapp Bierhall, IND Team Puglisi/Assadi dined at Halvorson’s, while IND Team Frazee gathered at Spot on the Dock;
  • The Career and Independent channels met separately for Town Hall sessions.  The Independent channel sessions included two Town Halls (Business Innovation and Customer Innovation), where Vesta and Achim, and teams answered questions and engaged in discussions with the IND Field Leaders, while the Career team held a separate meeting focused on Growth Strategy.
  • A “Connections” tour with BIG and CIG was held one afternoon, which was an opportunity for the Field Leaders to meet, cultivate, or build on relationships with their home office partners.  In addition to the six-person liaison team, the Field Leaders met 24 partners from the BIG (Digital & Illustrations, Product Management & Competitive Landscape, Creating Content, Value in Branding & Social Media & Advanced Sales) and 47 partners in CIG (Contact Center, Payment Center & Field Services, After Issue teams, New Business & Underwriting).
  • The dine-around/action stations-format Home Office dinner was held one evening in the Cafeteria with about 160 guests in attendance.
  • Marie LeMieux led a Key Account team meeting while the Career team held their final sessions.
  • Do Good Activity:  the Field Leaders volunteered in the afternoon to partner with the NLG Facilities team in planting 60 flowers, spreading 60 cubic yards of mulch, and assisted in installation of the perimeter fencing in preparation for the Do Good Fest.  Their hard work was rewarded with a Lobster Bake under the NLG tent that evening.

Thanks to all the field leaders who made the trip from all over the country!
