Our fall volunteering initiative has moved closer to its goal and we still have a couple of weeks to go to get there.

We set a goal of donating 700 hours of company-paid volunteer time to community organizations this fall.

And according to the new Volunteer Time Tracker on National Life Today, we’re more than 20 percent of the way toward achieving that.

But that also means we have a long way to go, so you’re encouraged to reach out to the Volunteer Committee if you’re looking for opportunities.

We’ve already got some, listed below.

There are some around the company who have standing arrangements to volunteer. We’re encouraging you to account for that time in the Volunteer Time Tracker on National Life Today so we can get a good measurement of how we’re doing against our goal for the fall, and for the year.

If you’re a non-exempt employee, please also make sure to enter your time in UltiPro for payroll purposes. But we’re better able to track volunteer time if you use the tool on National Life Today. We apologize for asking you to use both platforms.

And here are those opportunities we mentioned:

Montpelier Recreation Department is seeking volunteers to serve at their annual Ski and Skate Sale on Friday, October 19th. We would be seeking two pairs of volunteers to serve for a period of two hours, from 9-11am,11am-1pm,1-3pm, and 3-5:00pm. These volunteers would serve at the Montpelier High School for this time period, checking in materials for the sale and welcoming guests. All volunteers will have the option to shop the special pre-sale on Friday night, from 8:00-10:00pm.  For information: rjohnston@montpelier-vt.org, or 802-225-8694.

Montpelier Parks Department is seeking a lot of help; the dates and times could be up to the volunteers who are interested. Volunteers should be prepared for physically capable – able to lift up to ten to fifteen pounds; able to walk and carry items over some distance; interested in physical labor like building, etc. These volunteers would engage in projects like trail maintenance, splitting wood, pulling invasive species, chipping brush, building stone walls or compost toilets, and more. For information: rjohnston@montpelier-vt.org, or 802-225-8694.
