Wow, talk about a record.

National Life employees spent 5,374 hours volunteering in the community through our company-paid volunteer leave time.

This is evidence of how much all of us have come to embrace our Do Good culture of servant leadership.

Never before have so many employees spent so much time doing so much good. In 2015, our previous record effort, we put in 4,035 hours volunteering.

The volunteering involved employees from both campuses working on tasks large and small, from helping to build a house to packing boxes of food to stuffing envelopes for a nonprofit’s annual fund drive.

And the numbers don’t begin to tell the entire story. There were a number of instances where employees volunteered on the weekend, wearing National Life’s colors, even though weekend or after-hour opportunities don’t count toward our program.

We’ve had many notes of thanks from the leaders of the programs we’ve helped. They’re not only appreciative of the individual contributions we’ve made, but of the commitment behind National Life’s program itself.

So congratulations on all you’ve done in 2016 and watch for more volunteering opportunities early this year.
