National Life Group Lifesavers participated in the 2019 Lake Champlain Dragonboat Festival this past Sunday, August 4.
It was a great time and all while raising money for this year’s benefactor—The McClure Miller Respite House.
We had a decent 1st race, with a time of 1:02:65. This placed us in Division B! What a great accomplishment, especially since almost half of our boat was new to paddling and Dragonboat racing!
We reviewed some videos taken of our 1st race, our timing and the commands. We hoped to get under a minute for our next race. Our 2nd race we did place under a minute (00:58:43), but still lost by about ¾ of a second. Even though we didn’t medal, we still paddled hard! There was also a Best Costume competition for the drummers of the boats, and this year, our drummer won 1st place!!
