Barbara Sterling of our Payment Center has been released from the hospital after a long treatment for Covid-19.
Barbara’s release from Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas got the attention of local media because she was the very first patient at Methodist and was hospitalized for so long. We wanted to share a couple of those stories, one from the local Fox affiliate and another on the ABC affiliate. The video on both links is well worth watching.
Hospital staff, friends, family and some of her National Life co-workers were on hand to cheer this step in Barbara’s recovery after two months in the hospital.
“I am just so grateful for all of the prayers from everyone,” Barbara told Angela McCraw, who oversees the Customer Innovation Group operations team, in a telephone conversation.
The hardest part for Barbara has been that she has not been able to see her husband since before her hospitalization because she still can’t have visitors.
“I miss my family so much. It’s the hardest part,” she told Angela.
But she had plenty of praise for the health care workers who cared for her while she was hospitalized.
Although Barbara is recovering, she still has a long road. She told Angela that she has been transferred to an intermediate care facility and then will move on to a rehabilitation center.
Barbara encouraged us to share her story so all of us understand how serious the virus is.
On behalf of the entire National Life family, we send our love and encouragement to Barbara and her family and wish her continued recovery.
