The new culture team is finding new ways to Spread the Good among all of us.
The team of three dozen employees from both campuses and departments all over the company was organized this past spring.
Since then, it has created three working groups to achieve its overarching goal, which mirrors the corporate 2020 vision: 1,000+ Delighted Employees.
So, what are they up to? Well, it’s starting to become more visible on both campuses, with striking blue T-shirts, as well as with coffee and conversation.
One of the teams wants to spread the message that we’re all on this culture initiative together, spreading the good.
To that end, the team is soliciting nominations for people who live our values out loud. Those who are nominated are presented with blue T-shirts proclaiming #All_In on the front and “Peace of Mind” on the back.
The first shirts were distributed in Texas last week and in Vermont this week. Expect to start seeing more and more of them on each campus.
Another team is focused on listening to each one of us about what makes National Life the place it is.
Team members are inviting small groups of colleagues to coffee or other small gatherings to talk about what culture means to individuals in the company. Another of the goals is to understand where the culture might fall short so the culture team can carry that message back to managers and executives.
Many of you have already been invited and participated. More will be getting similar invitations in coming weeks.
And another team is devoted to breaking down some of the silos that can tend to separate us. One of their initiatives has been to get employees from the Vermont campus who happen to be visiting the Addison campus involved in Texas events. That’s why you saw some Vermonters participating in the Corporate Challenge in Richardson.
Expect more of those kinds of events, geared toward breaking down silos between campuses, departments and floors.
