Corporate Actuarial Announcements

I am excited to make several announcements regarding our Corporate Actuarial staff.  Please bear with me as I attempt to address each in turn:

  • First, I am pleased to announce Sook Hoon Koh’s promotion to Associate Vice President leading our Annuity Valuation and Actuarial Forecasting teams.  This promotion is in recognition of the critical role these two teams play in understanding and projecting our financial results.  Sook has made many contributions toward our success, most notably leading our capital forecasting project last year, building the foundations for our GAAP forecasting this year, as well as stepping in to help the team out when Becca had the opportunity to join STI this year.  I am excited for Sook and look forward to her continued contributions and leadership.

  • Becca Noyes will be pursuing an exciting opportunity in the Product Development Team under Ata Azarshahi.  While I am sad to be losing her leadership and capability, this will give her the opportunity to see another side of the business and continue her leadership journey.  The next couple of years will require the re-pricing of our entire product suite so she shouldn’t have any problem hitting the ground running!
  • In order to assist Sook with her responsibilities, Ritvik Jarugumilli will be joining her team as the Head of Actuarial Forecasting.  Ritvik has held a number of roles since joining us as an Actuarial Analyst, most recently in the Asset/Liability Management team and as part of this year’s STI class.  I have had the opportunity to see Ritvik continue to grow professionally over the years and am looking forward to his leadership over this important strategic role.  Reporting to Ritvik will be Neil Ward, Corey Chernofsky, Amara Chen, and Ted White.
  • It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Nick Brink will be leaving Vermont to be closer to his family.  While I will be disappointed ultimately not seeing him in person every day, I am happy that he will continue to contribute to NLG’s Asset/Liability Management as an individual contributor from his eventual home in Washington.  The timing of Nick’s move is as of yet to be determined.  We have begun the process to identify who will be leading the A/LM team going forward.  Nick will keep those responsibilities pending a future announcement.

Please join me in congratulating Sook, Becca, Ritvik, and Nick as they embark on the next chapter in their lives.

Thank you,

Eric Sandberg
