Last week we shared Bryan Sturge’s cause and how he was competing in “Turn Those Whiskers into Wishes,” a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Vermont.
Well he won! Not only did he win his category of “Backwoods Beard,” he also won the title of “Ultimate Beardie”, a prize awarded to him by Wish Kid, Noah Cohen.
Bryan’s story of how he’s growing his beard to honor his daughter Zoey’s memory moved the audience and judges so much that they awarded him with the top prize.
The event was able to raise nearly $30,000, which will be enough to grant a wish for three Vermont children in Zoey’s memory.
Bryan’s story was also featured in the Burlington Free Press and Seven Days.
