Capstone is looking for volunteers to help low-income families file their taxes. Volunteers would work about 3-5 hours a week during tax season.
Additionally, volunteers must receive a certificate from the IRS that requires taking an online test. We are providing 2 orientations next month to provide more information on how it all works.
What Captstone is? Capstone works with low-income working Vermonters to help them file their taxes and access all the credits available to them. Last year Capstone had 40 volunteers who helped nearly 1,300 people file and access over $1.4M in returns. One of the key credits we help households access is the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). In 2015, the EITC is credited with lifting over 9 Million people nationwide out of poverty.
When: November 14 and November 16 from 5-7 pm.
If you are interested, it recommended to attend one of the orientations to see if it sounds like a good fit.
